On a densely wooded site, an old, modest, and weathered cabin gave way to a new 165 m² home. The deliberately compact programme is organised around the path of the sun: the bedrooms to the east awaken with the morning light, while the living spaces oriented west and south come alive with the evening glow. Between the two, an inner courtyard separates and connects these two moments of the day, providing privacy for the bedrooms and openness for the shared spaces.
The roof lifts at its edges, allowing high, shifting light to enter and transform the interior throughout the hours. Settled quietly within the clearing, the house does not seek to dominate the site, but to belong to it with calm and grace, as if it had always been there.

From Morning to Evening
The house is divided into two wings oriented around the movement of light: the bedrooms, facing east, capture the softness of the morning; the living spaces, oriented west and south, embrace the long light of the late afternoon. A roof that rises towards its edges allows zenithal light to enter, shifting with the hours and the seasons.
The Courtyard Between Two Wings
The offset between the two volumes creates an inner courtyard, sheltered from view, that distributes light and privacy throughout the spaces. The patio and covered terrace extend the living area outdoors, continuing the presence of the surrounding forest.
An Imprint
The courtyard has exactly the depth of the former cabin, a void that preserves its memory. The new house settles where, as a child, the owner played in the garden during her summer vacations.
