Peter Jahnke has been practising architecture for over twenty-five years, in both Belgium and the United States. Long enough to know that the best buildings begin not with ideas, but with questions. Every project starts with careful listening. What follows is a rigorous and iterative design process—from the first sketch to the finest construction detail—in which every decision is grounded in the realities of the site, the client, the materials, and the light.
He holds a Master of Architecture from Montana State University and is a licensed architect in Belgium. His work has been recognised through international awards, publications, and lectures.

Relationships

Building takes time. Throughout this process, we ask questions that go far beyond square metres and budgets. It is an intimate collaboration, and the quality of this relationship shapes everything that follows. We invest in knowing our clients: how they live, how they work, what they need from a space even before they have found the words to ask for it.

Whether the project is a private home or a public institution, the relationship is the foundation. Without it, architecture is guesswork. With it, it becomes something that could only ever have been built for you.

If the collaboration does not feel like the right fit, we will say so. We would rather help you find the right architect than see you spend two years working with the wrong one.

Responsiveness

Every site is already telling a story. Our first responsibility is to listen.
Before the first sketch, we study the site: its light, its history, its topography, and its material culture. In Wallonia, this means understanding the presence of local stone, the angle of the low winter sun, the memory carried by an old timber structure. Each site holds something unique. Our first task is to reveal it.

Context is not a constraint. It is the inspiration.

The best architecture feels inevitable, as if it could only have been built in that place.

Performance

A building truly performs when it transforms the lives that unfold within it.

Our commitment is to an architecture that actively enriches the experience of those who inhabit it. Architecture that shapes light, guides movement, connects a room to its landscape, and brings people together in ways they may not have anticipated, but come to value deeply.

Technical performance and experiential performance are not in tension. In the best architecture, they are the same move.

Performance is what happens when the building responds in return: when the listening has been so precise and complete that the architecture becomes an amplifier of everything the place already was.
